I have so many questions, desires to express - but I'll honor your wish and give you a sense of life on our planet in the most intimate terms that I can provide.
But first, some caveats:
It is great that you say that you can understand anything I write. I have a million questions to ask about that - especially, how you can understand if you are asking me for a description of life on our planet. Without this context, I am imagining that it would be impossible for you to follow what I'm saying. But, I defer to you in the hopes that, while this is my (our) first contact with an alien civilization, it may not be your first and you know more than I do about this process.
Second, you ask for an intimate portrait. The only thing that I know intimately is my life, my thoughts and my perceptions. My life may not be as interesting to you as the life of our species - but I can only provide a very gross simplification of the life of our species as I understand. Given that you want to have an intimate view of our world, I'll presume that with the details of my life you won't be bored out of your skull, or something similar to it that you may have.
